The Renewal of QV1 Perth

We’ve come to Perth to see how great placemaking has renewed the famous 43 story commercial tower known as QV1… When it was completed in 1991 it’s architect Harry Seidler declared it to be his favourite building and it won the national commercial architecture award later that year. Over time QV1 became the most iconic and awarded precinct in this city and its radical ideas included generous public spaces and artworks, large curved floorplates without columns that democratised views and exterior sun shading which reduced energy consumption and enabled tenants to enjoy views all day through floor to ceiling windows that don’t need blinds. The building has been reset with a focus on wellness and sustainability. QV1 is now the only office tower in the Perth CBD with a Well Gold rating and and a major investment in new plant, equipment and waste management has reduced carbon emissions by 50% and enabled a NABERS 5.5 star energy rating. What we found so compelling about this story is how the precinct continues to renew and improve…QV1 is better in 2023 than it’s ever been because the great placemaking has created a community here…somewhere everyone can belong and enjoy…
